The pair models behind the packs come from our own laboratory, which measures and publishes every one. The packs themselves are still in development.

Typed translation between English and Spanish, French, German or Portuguese runs on Windy’s own servers, using open models we publish and measure. Every other language pair is translated through Windy Mind by an AI provider that does not train on your text. We make no accuracy claims against anyone yet.

That is planned, using a WindyClone voice profile built from your recordings. It is not part of Traveler yet.
One account connects everything. WindyWord captures your voice → WindyCloud stores your data → WindyClone creates your digital twin → WindyTraveler takes it all on the road. WindyTranslate powers the translation engine under the hood. Use one product or all six — they're better together but each stands alone.
Here is exactly what happens today. The text you translate goes from your browser to our servers. Between English and Spanish, French, German or Portuguese, it is translated on Windy’s own servers and stays with us. For every other language pair, the text (only the text, not your name, email or account details) is sent through Windy Mind to a third-party AI provider that does not train on it. If our own servers are busy, the same thing happens for the pairs above. For spoken translations, the speech-to-text step runs on Windy’s own speech engine; if it is busy, you are asked to try again, and nothing is sent anywhere else. The translation of what was said then follows the same path as typed text. It is not processed on your device and it is not end-to-end encrypted; it is encrypted in transit. Signed-in translations are saved to your history for 12 months, or less if you delete an entry, clear it all or close your account, and our own servers keep a short-lived copy of recent translations in memory only (no account attached, up to an hour, never written to disk) so repeats are instant.
